Hometrain for Schools

Primary School Education:

Most primary school classrooms include children who have difficulty with social skills. This could be due to a diagnosis of a condition such as: Autism, Aspergers or Down Syndrome. Difficulties may also relate to a child's circumstances, such as social differences in their family and community.

If you have a Stay Safe and Relationships and Sexuality programme in your school, the
'How Are You?' game is an excellent resource, helping teachers address a range of topics.

Learning in the home.

How can our programmes help?

With these programmes, children explore feelings, behaviour, bullying, expressing themselves and learn social skills with fun interactive games and printable worksheets.

Promoting good practice when teaching communication and social skills in your inclusive school:
When children learn how to initiate social communication within natural contexts - such as: home, community and school, they respond appropriately to the communications of others. From here, they can begin to develop positive relationships with others.

Topics covered:
Social skills - greetings, asking and answering questions, making friends, exploring emotions, expressing pain, what to do in social scenarios and more! Games explore: Appropriate behaviour and language in different social scenarios, learning about our bodies, identifying emotions and relating to others.

Do You find?
Searching for appropriate classroom resources for special needs students is a challenge. Many teachers don't have extra time during the teaching week to prepare additional work.

Introducing 'Hello' and 'How Are You?'
Our interactive software is designed for 1-1 teaching and for the whole class to play. They work well on laptops and interactive whiteboards. Each game has a video narrator who talks about different social scenarios along with 8 friendly boy and girl characters with fun learning games.

Save time searching for worksheets!
All teaching materials are included with the software, just simply print and use without spending valuable time away from the classroom.

Teacher and parent information is also included.
Sending this information home is a most effective way of demonstrating to parents your level of commitment to providing an inclusive service to their child.

How does SST help with child's future social development?

  • Have difficulty making and maintaining friendships
  • Become socially isolated when they are older

  • Experience fear of rejection and failure

Social Skills Training (SST) is a vital part of child development and could well be the most valuable lesson you teach today.

Lesson Plans

Our 'Learning-Together' course is designed to assist parents and teachers where a language intervention programme is in place or being developed. It is not designed to replace a programme that has been put in place after your child has been professionally assessed. It is recommended that our course is used alongside a training or therapeutic programme as a resource aid.
