About Hometrain and who we are:

Many families want to help teach their child basic skills at home. We offer practical advice on how to start and products that are tried, tested and designed to make learning together fun and effective.
Hometrain Ltd is a dynamic Irish company offering educational resources for children with special needs. It is run by husband and wife team, William and Claire Whyte.


Claire Whyte (B.A. Hons, PgDip)
Claire is a co-director of Hometrain Ltd, and has extensive experience working with children and their families in a wide cross-section of the community.

Training and Qualifications:
Initially trained in Arts Therapies, Claire moved to Ireland and trained as a Hospital Play Specialist, working for many years at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children on the Cardiac team. After which she studied A.B.A. teaching methods and worked as a home tutor before setting up Hometrain Ltd as a co-director. Claire also has experience in stress counselling and delivers training to many groups in relation to teaching special needs, communication and play.

At Hometrain:
Claire is the author of the Social Skills teaching programmes 'Hello' and 'How Are You?', 'Learning Together', 'Going to School' and 'Going to Hospital'. She also illustrates many of the programmes and assists with development and marketing. Claire is also responsible for the running of the Hometrain Social Skills Group - a weekly group with places for ten children who have additional learning needs.

William Whyte
William is a co-director of Hometrain Ltd. He manages the technical and production aspects of the company.

Training and Qualifications:
William's background was in electronic engineering and he worked in problem solving roles in diciplines ranging from hydraulics and mechanical fitting to computer hardware repair and testing.
More recently William worked in hardware repair of Smartcard and POS systems and New Product Introduction support in Fujitsu and then in I+P Server testing in IBM. Whilst in IBM he also developed PC based training programs for field service engineers.

At Hometrain:
William is involved in technical and production issues; taking a project through from the original concept and script from Claire and then developing the finished item. He takes care of the website, online transactions, design, manufacturing and various production issues.
